Trinity Square & Court, Hartlepool

Yuill has been involved with both the adjoining Trinity Square and Trinity Court developments off Hart Lane in Hartlepool since 2005, working closely with Hartlepool Borough Council, New Deal for Communities Regeneration company Hartlepool Revival, Endeavour Housing Association and Housing Hartlepool.

The Hart Lane area of Hartlepool was redeveloped after it was identified by the government’s New Deal for Community scheme as one of the 36 most deprived areas in need of regeneration in the country. Yuill were appointed as preferred developer for the scheme and 347 terraced houses were eventually demolished and redeveloped as a mixed tenure site of 157 new Yuill Homes, including 13 new bungalows for rent for Endeavour Housing Association and 21 shared equity homes in partnership with Housing Hartlepool.

Yuill assisted Hartlepool Council in providing evidence for their CPO Inquiry for the acquisition of the existing dwellings. The team approach between the Council, Yuill and its advisors led to a fast confirmation of the CPO with vesting & acquisition of the properties being completed within six months of the Inquiry taking place.

Public participation was fundamental to the success of the development of this £19m scheme and the partnership included local residents, businesses, police and schools. Public exhibition and design days were held and residents visited other Yuill developments to view the type of housing which was proposed for their area.

We also worked closely with Housing Hartlepool and Endeavour Housing Association to develop packages to allow existing residents to sell their homes to Revival whilst reserving a new home. This included the provision of shared equity mortgages.

Yuill Homes has a strong relationship with Hartlepool College of Further Education for our in-house apprenticeship scheme and we have provided employment and training opportunities for young people to allow them to conclude their education with the College.
